In Vedic astrology, a Mahadasha is a major planetary period within the Vimshottari Dasha system. Each planet rules a Mahadasha of a specific length: Sun (6 years), Moon (10), Mars (7), Rahu (18), Jupiter (16), Saturn (19), Mercury (17), Ketu (7), and Venus (20). The ruling planet's natal condition determines whether that period brings favorable or challenging results.
