In Hindu philosophy, Moksha is the liberation of the soul (Atman) from the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth (Samsara). It is considered the highest of the four aims of human life (Purusharthas): Dharma (duty), Artha (prosperity), Kama (desire), and Moksha (liberation). Achieving Moksha means realizing the true nature of the self and its unity with Brahman (universal consciousness).
