Jyotish, meaning "science of light" in Sanskrit, is the ancient Indian system of astrology dating back over 5,000 years. Unlike Western tropical astrology, Jyotish uses the sidereal zodiac (aligned with the actual star constellations) and places primary emphasis on the Moon sign. Its predictive system includes the Vimshottari Dasha (planetary periods), Nakshatras, and a rich system of Yogas and remedies.
