Actor Jacob Tremblay discusses playing young Ted Kaczynski in Netflix's "Unabomber"

America has always tangled with its own shadows, and the Cancer Sun of the national chart lays that bare. Cancer rules the homeland, the family, the early years, and the stories a nation tells about how its children are shaped. A film exploring the boyhood of Ted Kaczynski pulls the collective psyche toward a prickly reckoning: what does American soil produce, and under what conditions does brilliance curdle into outright ruin? The fact that a young actor is being tapped to embody this origin story hints that the culture is ready—or at least game—to peer back into its own nursery.

Neptune's long passage through Pisces has been dissolving the boundaries between myth and reality in American storytelling for years now, and here we see that blur in plain view. Kaczynski held an uneasy space in the zeitgeist, simultaneously monstrous and intellectually compelling, and Neptune nudges us to live with that contradiction rather than tidy it up (which, if you think about it, makes sense). Meanwhile, with Saturn tightening its grip on the national narrative, a distinctly sober mood has settled in—a demand that the country trace cause and effect with raw candor rather than easy folklore. The Cancer Sun of the nation always circles back to origins, to the domestic realm, to the stubborn question of what we feed and what we leave to starve.
