Muhurta Calculator
Muhurta is the Vedic science of selecting auspicious times for important events. Choose an event type and location to find favorable windows based on Tithi, Nakshatra, and planetary positions.
Deluxe Astrology's Muhurta calculator evaluates every time window against the five Panchang elements — Tithi, Nakshatra, Vara, Yoga, and Karana — and applies event-specific rules from classical Muhurta Shastra texts to recommend auspicious windows for weddings, travel, business, property, and ceremonies.
What Is Muhurta in Vedic Astrology?
Muhurta (also spelled Muhurat or Muhurtham) is the branch of Vedic astrology dedicated to electional timing — choosing the most auspicious moment to begin an important activity. The system evaluates five factors simultaneously: the Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Vara (weekday), Yoga (Sun-Moon angular relationship), and Karana (half of a Tithi). When these five elements align favourably, the moment is considered Shubh (auspicious).
How Muhurta Quality Is Determined
Each day carries a quality rating based on the interaction of Tithi, Nakshatra, and weekday. Certain Nakshatras are universally auspicious (Pushya, Rohini, Ashwini, Mrigashira), while others like Bharani and Krittika carry restrictions. The Tithi determines the Moon's phase — Shukla Paksha (waxing) is generally preferred for new beginnings, while Krishna Paksha (waning) suits completion and endings. Rahu Kaal periods are always avoided. For marriage muhurta specifically, Kundli matching is performed alongside timing to ensure both chart compatibility and temporal alignment.
