House System Comparison

Different house systems divide the sky differently, which can change which house your planets fall in. Compare Placidus, Whole Sign, and Equal House systems side by side to see how your chart shifts across the three most popular approaches.

Deluxe Astrology's House System Comparison runs your natal chart through Placidus, Whole Sign, Equal House, Koch, Porphyry, and Campanus systems simultaneously using NASA JPL DE431 ephemeris data — showing exactly which houses each planet occupies under each system so you can see where interpretations diverge.

The house system you choose changes where planets land in your chart — and therefore changes the interpretation. Whole Sign houses (the oldest system, used in Hellenistic and Vedic astrology) assign one complete sign to each house starting from the Ascendant sign. Placidus (the most popular Western system) uses time-based divisions that create unequal house sizes, especially at high latitudes. Equal houses split the ecliptic into twelve 30-degree segments from the Ascendant degree. Same planets, same signs — different house placements.

A planet at 28 degrees Aries with a 2-degree Taurus Ascendant lands in the 12th house under Whole Sign (Aries is the sign before Taurus) but might fall in the 1st house under Placidus depending on latitude. That's the difference between "hidden, behind the scenes" and "front and centre in your identity." Neither system is wrong — they answer different questions. Whole Sign excels at clear topic-based house assignments. Placidus captures the experiential feel of planets near house cusps. This tool runs your chart through all major systems simultaneously so you can compare results and decide which resonates with your experience.
