In Human Design, relationship dynamics are revealed through composite chart analysis — overlaying two bodygraphs to see how they interact energetically. The most magnetic connections come from electromagnetic channels, where each person holds one gate of a channel. When they come together, the channel activates and creates a flow of energy that neither person has alone. This is often experienced as instant chemistry or a sense of completion.
Equally important are compromise channels (where both people define the same channel and must find shared expression) and conditioning patterns (where one person's defined center influences the other's open center). Understanding these dynamics helps partners move from unconscious reactivity to conscious appreciation of what each brings to the relationship.
Electromagnetic channels form when one person has one gate of a channel and the other person has the opposite gate. This creates magnetic attraction — each person provides what the other lacks, generating a powerful energetic pull that can feel like destiny.
A compromise channel exists when both partners independently define the same channel. This energy is always "on" for both people, which can create tension if they express it differently. It requires mutual respect and understanding to navigate well.
When one person has a defined center that the other person has open, the defined center "conditions" the open one. The person with the open center amplifies and reflects that energy. This is neither good nor bad — awareness of it allows both partners to navigate it consciously.
