Kemadruma Bhanga Yoga
Kemadruma Bhanga, or Kemdrum Cancellation, occurs when the Kemadruma Yoga (Moon with no planets in adjacent houses) is partially or fully cancelled by compensating factors in the chart. Cancellation happens when planets occupy Kendras (houses 1, 4, 7, 10) from the Lagna or the Moon, when the Moon is conjunct another planet, or when the Moon is in its own sign (Cancer) or exalted (Taurus). While the cancellation reduces the isolation and struggle that full Kemadruma brings, the underlying lunar sensitivity remains. The Moon is still energetically exposed and benefits from conscious strengthening. Think of it as a wound that has partially healed: the scar tissue is functional but the area remains more sensitive than uninjured tissue. The yoga practice for Kemdrum Cancellation focuses on reinforcing the Moon's strength, nurturing the emotional body, and maintaining the cancellation's protective effects through consistent lunar practices.
First confirm that Kemadruma Yoga exists (no planets in the 2nd and 12th from the Moon). Then check for cancellation factors: planets in Kendras from the Lagna, planets in Kendras from the Moon, Moon conjunct any planet, Moon in Cancer or Taurus, or a full Moon birth. The more cancellation factors present, the milder the residual effects. Even with cancellation, the Moon benefits from strengthening practices.
With Kemdrum Cancellation, the Svadhisthana (sacral) and Anahata (heart) chakras function better than in full Kemadruma but retain a sensitivity that requires ongoing attention. Physically, the emotional body may still experience periodic waves of unexplained sadness, particularly during the Moon's waning phase or when it transits challenging signs. Sleep quality is generally better than full Kemadruma but may deteriorate during stressful lunar transits. The heart chakra is more open than in the uncancelled version but may still have a subtle guardedness that prevents full emotional vulnerability. The sacral chakra functions adequately for creativity and pleasure but may feel undercharged during emotionally demanding periods. The body generally performs well but has a lower emotional reserve tank. The yoga practice for Kemdrum Cancellation is gentler than the full Kemadruma remedy, focusing on maintenance, reinforcement, and building emotional resilience.
6 poses targeting the Svadhisthana and Anahata chakras.
Chandra Namaskar
Flow through the Chandra Namaskar at a nurturing pace. Emphasize the goddess pose, triangle, and wide-legged forward fold. Move fluidly, as though your body is made of water.
Reinforces lunar energy that the partial cancellation protects. Regular Moon Salutations keep the cancellation strong.
Matsyasana with block
Place a yoga block horizontally beneath the upper back (between the shoulder blades). Lie back over the block, allowing the chest to open and the head to release. Arms rest at sides.
Gently opens the heart chakra without the intensity required for full Kemadruma. The support provides the safety the Moon needs.
Ananda Balasana
Lie on your back. Bend knees, grab the outer edges of the feet. Pull knees toward the armpits while keeping the sacrum on the mat. Rock gently side to side.
Activates the playful, nurturing quality that strengthens the Moon. The childlike pose reconnects with the innocence that Kemadruma dimmed.
Supta Baddha Konasana
Lie on your back, soles of feet together, knees falling open. Place one hand on the heart, one on the lower belly. Use bolsters under the knees for support.
Opens both the heart and sacral centres simultaneously in a passive, nurturing way that reinforces the Moon's emotional pathways.
Viparita Karani
Lie with legs up the wall, hips close to the base. Arms rest in cactus shape or at sides. Close the eyes and let the body be fully supported by the ground and wall.
The quintessential Moon-strengthening restorative pose. Reverses gravity's pull, calms the nervous system, and fills the emotional tank.
Shavasana
Lie flat with a light blanket covering the body. Place a lavender-scented eye pillow over the eyes if available. Systematically relax each body part from the feet upward, lingering at the heart and sacral centres.
Complete lunar restoration. The covering and eye pillow create the cocoon-like safety that the Moon craves.
Chandra Bhedana
Timing: 5 minutes, 15 breath cycles
Sit comfortably. Close the right nostril with the thumb. Inhale through the left nostril for 4 counts. Close both nostrils and hold for 2 counts (lighter hold than in full Kemadruma practice). Exhale through the right nostril for 6 counts. The left nostril activates the lunar (ida) channel. For Kemdrum Cancellation, the practice is gentler and more maintenance-oriented than the full Kemadruma remedy.
ओम् श्रां श्रीं श्रौं सः चन्द्रमसे नमः
Om Shraam Shreem Shraum Sah Chandramase Namah
Salutations to the Moon, source of emotional peace. The 54 repetitions (half of 108) reflect the partial nature of the affliction. Increase to 108 during challenging lunar transits.
Sit with eyes closed and visualize a dome of soft silver light surrounding your entire body. This dome is the cancellation factor in your chart, given visual form. It is permeable to love, joy, and nurturing energy but filters out emotional toxins and isolation. Inside the dome, moonlight fills the space. Place your hands on your heart and feel the silver light particularly dense and warm at the heart centre. The dome does not need to be perfect; small gaps are natural and allow for emotional growth. Your job is simply to maintain awareness of its presence and reinforce it with each practice.
