In Vedic astrology (Jyotish), a dosha is a planetary affliction in the birth chart that creates specific challenges in the native's life. Unlike Western astrology's emphasis on personality typing, Jyotish treats doshas as actionable conditions with prescribed remedies. Traditional remedies include gemstones, mantras, fasting, and charitable donations. Yoga is the most comprehensive remedy because it addresses the dosha at every level: physical (asanas targeting the affected body regions), energetic (pranayama balancing the disrupted chakras), mental (meditation reprogramming reactive patterns), and spiritual (mantra connecting to the planetary deity).
Each of the 15 guides in this collection targets a specific dosha with a complete practice sequence. The asanas are selected to counterbalance the planetary energy -- cooling poses for Mars afflictions, grounding poses for Saturn transits, heart-opening poses for Moon deficiencies. The pranayama techniques regulate the specific energy channels (nadis) that the dosha disrupts. The beej mantras vibrate at the frequency of the afflicted planet, gradually harmonizing its expression in the body.
These practices are not replacements for medical care or professional astrological consultation. They are complementary tools that work at the subtle body level, addressing the energetic root of patterns that manifest as physical symptoms, emotional tendencies, and life circumstances. Consistent daily practice over 40 to 90 days produces the most significant results.
