Sade Sati is Saturn's 7.5-year transit over three signs around your natal Moon sign. Use this free Vedic calculator to find your current phase, start and end dates, and personalised remedies.
Your Shani Sade Sati period is one of the most closely watched transits in Vedic astrology. This calculator checks Saturn's current position against your natal Moon sign and tells you instantly whether you are in an active phase, and if so, which one.
Sade Sati means "seven and a half years" in Sanskrit. It happens when Saturn transits through the sign just before your Moon sign, then over your Moon sign itself, then the sign just after. Each leg takes roughly 2.5 years. Together they add up to the classic 7.5-year cycle. The transit repeats every 29.5 years as Saturn completes its orbit, so most people experience it two or three times in a lifetime.
The three phases each carry a different quality. Aarambha (rising phase) begins when Saturn enters the sign one sign before your Moon. This phase often brings subtle restlessness, new pressures at work, or shifting relationships. Madhyama (peak phase) starts when Saturn moves directly over your Moon sign. Emotions run high, discipline is tested, and karmic debts surface. Antya (setting phase) follows as Saturn moves into the sign after your Moon. The pressure eases but finances and family dynamics often need attention before the cycle fully closes.
Saturn is currently transiting Pisces (2023 to 2026). This means:
| Phase | Name | Moon Sign Affected |
|---|---|---|
| Rising | Aarambha | Aquarius (sign before Pisces) |
| Peak | Madhyama | Pisces (Saturn's current sign) |
| Setting | Antya | Aries (sign after Pisces) |
If your Moon sign is not one of those three, you are outside Sade Sati until Saturn shifts again. Enter your birth details above to get your exact status and dates.
Common Vedic remedies during Sade Sati include fasting on Saturdays, chanting the Shani mantra (Om Sham Shanicharaya Namah) 108 times, wearing blue sapphire (neelam) if advised by a Jyotish, donating black sesame or mustard oil, and serving the underprivileged on Saturday evenings. These practices do not remove the transit but help you move through it with more composure and less resistance.
