Enter your birth date to see your zodiac sign instantly. If your birthday is near a sign change, we’ll show cusp dates and year-exact timing.
The Sun passes through each zodiac sign in ~30 days, but the precise transition times vary year by year. Some years the Sun enters Aries on March 20; other years, March 21. That’s why someone born on April 19, 2022 might be Aries while someone born April 19, 2019 was Taurus — down to the minute of birth. For cusp birthdays (March 20, April 19, May 20, etc.), use our year-specific calendars to verify your exact sign.
A cusp is the narrow date range where the Sun crosses from one sign to the next — typically three to five days wide. Cusp birthdays aren’t a third sign; they blend two neighboring signs’ energies. Check the full cusp dates reference for all 12 boundary windows.
Your Sun sign is just one slice of your chart. Your Moon sign governs your emotional world; your Rising sign shapes first impressions; and a full birth chart maps every planet to a sign and house.
The zodiac sign is based on your birth date in the vast majority of cases. Birth time only matters if you were born within one or two days of a sign change — the exact hour then determines which sign the Sun occupied at your birth.
If your birthday falls on or near a sign boundary (like March 20–21 or April 19–20), the exact sign depends on the year and birth time. Our calculator uses astronomy-engine (DE431 ephemeris) to give you the precise answer.
Some sites use "typical" fixed ranges (e.g. Aries: March 21–April 19), while others use precise year-specific ingress times. Both are correct in different contexts; our calculator shows both so you can cross-check.
