The classic Past, Present, and Future spread. Focus on your question, draw three cards, and receive insight into the forces shaping your situation.
Deluxe Astrology's Three Card Spread draws from the full 78-card Rider-Waite-Smith deck with position labels you can customize — Past/Present/Future, Situation/Action/Outcome, or Mind/Body/Spirit — plus an AI interpretation that reads the three cards as a connected narrative arc rather than three independent meanings.
Preparing your Three-Card Spread
Clear your mind. Hold your question gently.

The three-card spread is the workhorse of tarot — versatile enough for daily guidance, structured enough for real insight. Three cards laid left to right, each position carrying a specific role. Most commonly: Past, Present, Future. But the beauty of this spread is its adaptability.
You can reframe the positions for any question. Situation, Action, Outcome. Mind, Body, Spirit. What I see, What I don't see, What I need to know. The three-card framework is a lens, not a cage. Choose positions that match your question and the spread becomes infinitely more useful.
The mistake beginners make: reading each card in isolation. The real magic of a three-card spread is in the narrative arc — how the cards speak to each other. A Ten of Swords in the Past position followed by The Star in the Present tells a completely different story than those same cards reversed in position.
Look for elemental patterns. Three Cups cards? Your situation is entirely emotional. Two Swords and a Pentacle? Mental conflict about a practical matter. A Major Arcana card in any position amplifies that position's significance — it's the volume knob of the reading.
The center card is the heart. Start there, then read outward. How did the past create this present? How does the present point toward that future?
Use a three-card spread when you need clarity but not complexity. It's ideal for daily check-ins that go deeper than a single-card pull, relationship snapshots, decision-making (Option A, Option B, What I'm Not Seeing), and career crossroads.
Don't use it when the situation demands nuance across multiple dimensions — that's Celtic Cross territory. And don't use it to ask the same question you asked yesterday because you didn't like the answer. Tarot rewards honest inquiry, not result-shopping.
